Dear ABC Studios: It’s Time for Legend of the Seeker

The economy isn’t going to get any better any faster whether Mitt Romney or Barack Obama is elected President in November, but economics have a huge impact on the entertainment programming that we mere viewers are offered. As is usual the Fall 2012 lineup is filled with TV shows that are mostly unappealing and unimaginative.

But the ABC Television network has a pretty solid lineup on Sunday nights with “Once Upon A Time”, “Revenge”, and “666 Park Avenue”. Admittedly I don’t watch “Revenge” but I do watch “Once Upon A Time” faithfully and I have caught a few episodes of “666 Park Avenue”.

What I am missing, however, is a good, old-fashioned sword-and-sorcery action/adventure show — like Legend of the Seeker. More people on Twitter now follow the SF-Fandom @seekerfans account than follow the main @sf_fandom account. And believe me when I say that the SF-Fandom account publishes far more news and new content than the Seekerfans account.

So that says something to me. It tells me there is still a lot of passion out there for Legend of the Seeker. And I am not the only person who sees this passion.

Fans have driven up comments on Facebook to over 1,000,000. Now they are working toward a goal of 2,000,000 comments:

You can see that the official LOTS Facebook page has received over 450,000 LIKEs. If you have not added your LIKE yet, you can do so now.

With this large an audience, it seems like someone is missing out on a real opportunity to make some money. ABC Studios, that could still be you. Think about it.

  1. Legend of the Seeker is a fabulous show and even after 2 years off the air the fandom grows. This show wasn’t cancelled because of lack of interest, the main distributer’s bankruptcy caused it not to be renewed. Efforts to negotiate with another network fell thru, please continue to find a network that will pick up this outstanding show or put it on your network. There is money to be made as the fandom has grown and still growing. The money fans have spent with the efforts to get it renewed, would be spent on new products ie. dvds of new seasons as well as other products. Many have joined Hulu Plus & Netflix to watch and re-watch seasons 1 & 2.
Please find a way to bring Legend of the Seeker back for season 3, 4, 5 etc.
    Thank you

  2. It’s apparent to anyone who has been following the history of this show that the “low ratings” that lead to the cancellation were due to a lack of awareness. I myself came across this show on accident one day…and was hooked ever since. Most current fans discovered this show in the last couple of years, long after it’s cancellation.

I know the Tribune went bankrupt, but what I don’t understand is this: ABC has it’s own network, why can’t ABC simply produce this show for it’s own network? Why not give a made-for-tv movie a try, air it on ABC and see who watches? I guarantee, we’ll watch it!

Talk about this show has not gone away. It’s time to give LOTS a second look.
