Domesday Book timbers found in Canterbury Cathedral tower

Archaeologists working on the restoration of Canterbury Cathedral have had wooden beams in its roof dated to the time of William the Conqueror and the Domesday Book.

Not overly unusual--that is how Mike Baille and a few others developed the high precision radiocarbon calibration curve. Between oaks in roofing and structural supports, and oak stumps in bogs...
