TV Guide's 25 Sexiest Women of Sci-Fi

It seems like a couple times a year we get one of these lists from a blog, magazine, or television show. I'm not sure how old this one is, but I caught it on TV Guide Channel earlier this afternoon. Not a bad list, actually, it does a good job of mixing old and new. So here's the list, along with the character(s) and show(s) they were associated with. Curiously, they chose to group Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt together as Catwoman at #11.

25. Jennifer Love Hewitt
.................................as Melinda Gordon, Ghost Whisperer

24. Kari Wuhrer
.................................as Maggie Becket, Sliders

23. Gillian Anderson

22. Hayden Panettiere
.................................as Claire Bennet, Heroes

21. Katherine Heigl
.................................as Isabel Evans,Roswell

20. Eliza Dushku
................................as Faith, Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Echo, Dollhouse

19. Charisma Carpenter
................................as Cordelia Chase, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel

18. Lindsay Wagner
................................as Jaime Sommers, The Bionic Woman

17. Erin Gray
................................as Wilma Deering, Buck Rogers

16. Kristin Kreuk
................................as Lana Lang, Smallville

15. Grace Park
................................as Boomer/Number Eight, Battlestar Galactica

14. Yvonne Strahovski
................................as Sarah Walker, Chuck

13. Erica Durance
................................as Lois Lane, Smallville

12. Lucy Lawless
...............................as Xena, Xena: Warrior Princess & Number Three, Battlestar Galactica

11. Julie Newmar & Eartha Kitt
................................as Catwoman, Batman.

10. Katee Sackhoff
................................as Starbuck, Battlestar Galactica

9. Sarah Michelle Gellar
................................as Buffy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

8. Teri Hatcher
................................as Lois Lane, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

7. Nichelle Nichols
...............................as Uhura, Star Trek

6. Jessica Alba
...............................as Max, Dark Angel

5. Ali Larter
...............................as Niki/Jessica/Gina, Heroes

4. Evangeline Lilly
...............................as Kate Austen, Lost

3. Tricia Helfer
...............................as Number Six, Battlestar Galactica

2. Jeri Ryan

1. Lynda Carter

That's as good a list as you'll ever find. We all have our favorites that didn't make it...but that's an awfully good list.

Yep. Personally I'd have Vicky Pratt and Marina Sirtis in there as opposed to some of the Heroes/Lost folks, but as you say, it's a matter of personal favorites.

Interesting list.
Like Boomstick said I would have added some from Cleo 2525 (Vicky Pratt) and STTNG (Marina Sirtis and Gates M.). (Maybe Moonlight (Sophia M.) and Birds of Prey (Ashley Scott).) Would Alias fall under scifi? Then I would add: Jennifer Garner, Lena Olin and Mia M.

But the main one I would have added would have been Summer Glau from TSCC as Cameron.

Oh, and by the way, if this list has one serious shortcoming, it's that it doesn't include Diana Rigg as Emma Peel (The Avengers). I mean, come on, TV Guide! She was beautiful to begin with, and some of those outfits they'd get her into would still be quite outrageous by today's television standards!

And beyond being just sexy, she was widely regarded by adversaries as being more dangerous than her male counterpart John Steed!

Vicky Pratt, Morena Baccarin, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, and Terry Farrell would've made good additions. However, there's little need to argue. It is a fine manifest of scifi pulchritude.

So say we all!!!!

Oh good. Was going to say Morena Baccarin if no one else did.
