Talking Genre shows top list of most time-shifted shows (i.e. recorded for later viewing)

....but what if anything does it mean?

This was in USA Today a week or two back, and was the top 12 (3 tied for 10th place) shows in 2009, ranked by % increase in viewership, that gained more viewers via things like Tivo and dvr viewing. I don't think viewing via Hulu was counted in this however, but I might be wrong. No distinction between network and cable, and sure enough, 7 of the 12 were genre shows, ones that we discuss here. BUT... a fair number were straightforward (and highly rated) cable dramas..... and while a number were on the notoriously under-watched Friday night... I think both Heroes and Damages run on Monday. (?) Which is TV's most-heavily-watched night. True Blood is on Sundays and runs 2-3 times more during the week.... I think Madmen premieres in Sundays too does it not? So hard to pinpoint a trend here. Unless it's just a trend of the shows most likely to lose you unless you watch each ep in order.

We also need to point out that even when things like Dollhouse nearly double their viewership via dvr... that means they're only out-numbered by NCIS and CSI viewers 15-to-1 instead of 20-to1, so their ratings are still dismal. But if Mad Men or Sanctuary gets the same 2 million viewers that Dollhouse did... their ratings are phenomenal, due to the difference between broadcast vs. cable viewership.

Battlestar Galactica (Syfy) - 59.4 %
Mad Men (AMC) - 57.7 %
Damages (TNT) - 56.3 %
Rescue Me (F/X) - 53.2 %
True Blood (HBO) - 46.9 %
Stargate Universe (Syfy) - 46.9 %
Sanctuary (Syfy) - 45.9 %
Heroes (NBC) - 45.9 %
Sarah Connor Chronicles (Fox) - 45.5 %
10 Thing I Hate About You (ABC Family) - 44.9 %
Dollhouse (Fox) - 44.9 %
Melrose Place (CW) - 44.9 %
