Talking Zombies...giant squids...next Vicky takes on...Mongolian Death Worms! Sat. 5/8 - Syfy

I couldn't make it up if I were to try.

Yep, another made-for-Syfy feature, already in post-production, and shot in Texas, since as Dread Central notes, Bulgaria must not make a convincing enough Mongolia!

Directed and co-written (with the guy who wrote Gargoyles: Wings of Darkness, Sea Beast and Cerberus) by the man who gave us Sasquatch Mountain, Ogre (starring Katherine Isabelle) Wyvern, and the recent Ice Twisters, and co-starring Sean Patrick Flannery and Drew Waters (Friday Night Lights.) Likely to air in the spring of 2010 - details as they develop.

Well, it's about time that Mongo D-Worm got his own flick.

Probably no more than Vancouver looks like an alien planet.

What cracks me up is that this thread had 25 views within the first hour after I posted it yesterday afternoon, and it's up to 47 now. Waaay too soon for it just to be spam-bots and google-cache-ing programs. So whether or not they're posting, or even logging in, somebody is still visiting this forum regularly!

There's an official premiere date: Sat. 5/8 at 9 PM EDT on Syfy, rerunning at 1 AM. Part of a classic creature line-up that day:

9 AM - Journey to the Center of the Earth - not the Brendan Fraser version, nor the James Mason version, but rather an Asylym "mockbuster" direct-to-dvd feature with Greg Evigan and Michelle Pfeiffer's little sis Deedee. Wikipedia points outn it more closely resembles the Burroughs book At the Earth's Core than Verne's novel. Seemingly filmed at that same wilderness park in the LA area as all their other features.

11 AM - Sands of Oblivion - Morena Baccarin and Adam Baldwin vs. a sort of Anubis-headed beastie, with cameos from Dan Castalanetta, George Kennedy and John Aniston.

1 PM - Manticore - Jonas Talkington and Michael Corey Davis take on an "ancient weaponj of mass destruction" in an Iraq that looks remarkably like Bulgaria, along with Heather Donohue, Chase Masterson and Robert Beltran.

3 PM - Bone Eater

5 PM - Black Swarm

7 PM - The Land That Time Forget (the Timothy Bottoms/C. Thomas Howell "mockbuster" that came out simultaneously with Land of the Lost.)

9 PM - Mongolian Death Worms

11 PM - Sand Serpents

1 AM - rerun of Mongolian Death Worms

3 AM - King of the Lost World

A sneek peek video clip can be found here, and this is the press release:

Quote:
In Mongolian Death Worm, premiering Saturday, May 8, at 9PM (ET/PT), treasure hunter Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints, Young Indiana Jones) and U.N. aide worker Victoria Pratt (Day Break) find themselves battling local bandits while searching for Genghis Khan’s secret tomb in central Mongolia. The crypt is guarded by man-eating Mongolian death worms, who grow very angry at being disturbed.

Sounds like fun! I've been trying to rent Vicky's Journey to the Center of the Earth, but every time I've at the video place it's out!

OK, this was pretty much what you'd expect. As with her squid movie, here Vicky was the brainy intellectual, not the action hero, and while lovely, she kept her clothes on.
