RE: Creativity Crisis Occurs At Worst Time

Well, I'm not a scientist studying creativity, but I've long believed that adversity is the mother of innovation. As we make lives easier for ourselves, both in personal tasking and in business, we have less need for true innovation.
So the less need we have for innovation, the less likely we are to want to be creative. That may not be the root of the problem, but I suspect it's a strong corollary.
But there is a flip side to my reasoning. Simpler societies that don't rely on technology don't gravitate toward developing advanced technology. That could be due to a lack of resources. But it might also suggest that innovation isn't a direct result of humanity's socializing. We may reach a plateau where our survival is relatively ensured and then stop innovating.
