Ms. Marvel is a Muslim superhero. What makes her significant to non-Muslim audiences is the fact that this is a mainstream Hollywood production.
The Christian Science Monitor published a thoughtful (if somewhat bland) op-ed on Hollywood's break with white male superheros.
