It's a fascinating concept and quite logical. I imagine we'll need to use these kinds of synergies in future space colonies. We could also expand our arable lands into deserts by combining solar power with atmospheric water generators and planting grass under/around them. We could then graze flocks of animal or allow wildlife to flourish.
Then imagine what could be done if we add some environmentally-friendly industrial processes to such landscapes. And we could build underground houses and workshops as well.
Maybe the future of space travel consists of tubular ships where the living and working quarters are "underground" and the power and food generation are "above ground". Water could be naturally processed and cleansed in the same places where vegetation and wildlife are grown.
