It's noon in Auckland, and hopefully Stu is sitting in front of a warm fire (since it's mid-winter there) w/ a cuppa hot tay, reading fabulous notices for his opening two nights earlier.

[COLOR="Navy"]The day has already passed in NZ, and Stu apparently finished up his run in "Four Flat Whites in Italy" at the Bruce Mason Centre Saturday night, and now has a few days break before starting back on the third leg of the tour, at the Clarence St. Theatre in Hamilton, starting Wednesday night. Meaning that surely they'd do at least one rehearsal, Tuesday night, meaning he's traveling there right now, Mon. NZ time. Giving him a whoppiong oen day off, his birthday, to relaz and celebrate! :clap:
However, it's still Sun. July 12th in the US, so we wish Stuart a very....[/COLOR]

Wishing Stuart Devenie a very happy birthday!
Something we missed a while back - he was named an Arts Foundation laureate in 2010 - detaisl here. This included a $50,000, no-strings-attached award! :clap:

"I was at lunch with friends and when the phone rang, Simon [Bowden, Arts Foundation executive director] said we had to talk about something confidential so I went outside," said the Auckland actor, 59, who was awarded the laureate last night in a ceremony in Dunedin's Glenroy Auditorium.
Devenie received the laureate, awarded annually to five senior New Zealand artists, with composer Gareth Farr, ceramics artist and theatre designer John Parker, cinematographer Leon Narbey and dancer-choreographer Michael Parmenter.
The laureates were set up 10 years ago by the Arts Foundation, a patronage organisation with an endowment fund of more than $6 million.

Here he is in 2008, as he received "the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to entertainment." This was the bio that went along with that award:

He has appeared in a number of New Zealand television dramas including Street Legal and Mercy Peak. He has been the artistic director of
