The Beastmaster movie was VERY Losely based on Andre Norton's book by the same title. The sequils weren't based on anything other than bad Connan movies. I've got a copy of the movie poster for the first, and Andre's name doesn't appear.
More recently a few other books were optioned. I haven't heard anything new. Maybe this is good. All of the movies based on books that I have ever seen have been rotten. (There is hope for the Postman, but I'll wait & see.)
Wraiths of Time AND Shadow Hawk were both optioned to Studio City Movies, Filming 9/96 @ Disney MGM. They were going to somehow combine the two books, and try for Sharie Belefonte to Star. The last I heard, there had been no action beyond purchasing copies of the books. YUP that means they optioned them without even having read the books.
Daybreak 2250 A.D. AKA Star Man's Son was optioned via Scovil to timepiece Films (Locus 10/95) That was so long ago, well I'm not holding my breath.
