: Actually, (turn on light bulb here) a road map among parallel worlds would be the perfect analogy:)

Ahhhh, yes -- but the next problem is figuring out which are parallel to what and perpendicular to why (or how).

Believe it or not, that statement makes sense and is grammatically correct. It's just that the English language, even the American dialect thereof, does not really have the proper cases and tenses to properly handle the subject of time travel.

Part of the problem, both with the analogy and the grammar, is that we are trying to make a verbal description of a two- or at most three-dimensional representation of a concept that requires at least seven. And we can't even wave our hands around to show what goes where.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who likes to twist their brains around this sort of speculation. Actually, every time I get to thinking on the subject of parallel/alternate/other worldlines, I am inevitably reminded of two lovely poems -- first The Road Not Taken, which always makes me think of The Road Goes Ever On. Why? Force of hobbit, probably. (Excuse me, I've a touch of the 'flu and the fever is making me act a little punny.)

Respectfully,

Michael B. Caffrey Stellae Nostrae Sunt!
