: : The FINAL art shows the two 20 year old characters as pre-teens, both riding a pony. : : The original art has the Witch with green skin and warts. : : Of the original art all that exists is the line drawing on the pre-publication wrappers. : : On the earliest printed jacket the witch has had the cosmetic surgery to remove warts & tint. : After that one, for sheer incongruence, I'd go for the Tom Canty covers [especially on the 1980s reprints]. Mr. Canty is a talented artist and draws a pretty cover [which hopefully sold many copies and brought Andre Norton much remuneration {with all 5 vowels}]. The fact remains, his flowy-drapery style doesn't quite jibe with all the sewer-crawling found in so many of Andre Norton's stories. : That said, the cover to _The Shadow of Albion_ tones down the drapery and seems to fit fairly well--better than many covers have, anyway. : Jerrie : P. S. I really liked the Robin Jacques covers, especially _The Moon of Three Rings_. What are everyone else's favorites? Seems like all the early hardcover dustjackets had Powers illios on them. I detested Powers and disliked all those covers. Didn't care for many of the Ace Double editions either. Didn't look like most of the artists had read the book before doing the cover. Did like the jacket for the hardcover Moon of Three Rings.
