: : I think plenty of us would buy any new book by Andre Norton and especially a Halfblood chronicles one - but those who oppose drawn out series have a point - unless volumes 1 and 2 come out again - there will be an entire generation of readers unfamiliar with the author, the subject, the books

: The Halfblood chronicles are still on the shelves in paperback of most booksellers in the UK.

In general, the Halfblood chronicles are often on the shelves in paperback. But you may have to go to 2 or 3 book stores to get both copies, since most stores only have one or the other of the books left.

I assume that when the next book comes out the publisher will make sure that they have a recent printing of the first two books in the warehouse. Whether or not your local store stocks up on these will be up to them. A smart book store purchase a quantity of #1 and #2 when #3 comes out. However, with some authors, by the time #20 is coming out, they are not re-stocking the early issues.

There are a couple of authors that write the entire series at once. Part of this is due to Page count (Young Adult books have a maximum) and sometimes this is due to the author just getting carried away while writing. Tamora Pierce writes her quadrillogies as one book.

I don't always read book 3 in a series in order. However, I often delay the 'joy' of reading a new book, by re-reading the entire series.

The reason that we are readers is because we take great joy in reading the words of others. We find a book that we can merge into, forgetting the real world and slip into the world of the book.

The Elvenblood Chronicles are books like these. The world that these people share is not a pretty one. There are mean and petty creatures. There are people (be they Man, Dragon or Elf) that are trying to make that world better. The Elvenblood Chronicles are a journey that we are already packed for, and we just want "to get on the road!" I understand your impatience in waiting.
