: Hi, In 'Ware Hawk near the ending Uruk gestures to Nirel, the Falconer, and says "...any man who carries one of the : Four is a shield to the are...Welcome, you to whome Basir's Tongue gives willing service." From that I gather that : Basir's Tongue is one of the Four Swords of Power. Now....who the heck was Basir? The weapon, which is not quite a full : sword and definitely not a dagger, came to him from the ruins of the Eyrie as Nirel and Tirtha were crossing the : mountains to Hawkholme. Basir's Tongue appears to disintegrate after striking the chest of Rane, a servant/adept? of the : Dark. I don't recall the name "Basir" occurring anywhere else. One of the reasons why Witch World seems so rich is that you have all these obscure references to things -- especially in the older books -- that imply a great deal of stuff that is never detailed. It's very similar to the way Tolkien casually mentions stuff in THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Perhaps the fourth great weapon was Sytry's sword, which Kemoc acquired (and subsequently destroyed) in WARLOCK OF THE WITCH WORLD.
