I found the comment about Ms Nortons' books not "being controversial enough, therefore she does nott appear too much in the discussion newsletters" interesting.

The fact is that the attraction of Ms Nortons' books do not lend themselves to controversy . Her books are true stories about the human spirit, and so clearly does she depict her protaganists that I am swept up into the world/story she is presenting. There are few writers who can so "suspend disbelief" that I take for granted the outlandish worlds, the science fiction backgrounds, and am caught up in the actual story right away.
My view is _still_ that Ms. Norton does what she does so well that she makes it look easy. It is not. Witness the failure of some of her "collaborative" works. (I am not dispairaging the collaborations; it is just that they are not true, unique Andre Norton.) After almost 30 years, Ms Nortons books are still in my library, and one of the few authors I never sell when 'cleaning out' my shelves.

I do admit that some of her latest books, specifically the 'final' witchworld book disapointed me a little. But not because of its content. Because there wasn't enough of it:)
