: Plastic painters' tarps can be purchased, along with large garbage bags, at most hardware stores. They won't stop ageing or a really bad flooding, but will protect boxes or even plastic grocery bags of books for quite a long time.

also large re-sealable plastic containers work well too (you've seen 'em, sorta look like totally oversized tupperware- you can even 'burp' them!)
