: All of us posting or lurking here know that Andre is female and I suppose most of us know why she chose an androgynous name when she began writing books, but I still find it humourous how well it still works. About three years ago, I had some science fiction specialist dealer say, "Oh yes, I'm very familiar with his work. Just today I received an email where a bookdealer wrote:"I had heard the rumor that Andre Norton was a woman.": Has anyone else a funny tale to relate along these lines??? Well, one of my friends, Thomas, is a very active game master and he has many acquaintances in the half-world of RPG in Warsaw. Once he told me that on one of the convents he met a SF-F "expert", you know a man who claims he knows everything. Here's a part of what he (the "expert")said: "So you like Norton? I personally think his books are stupid."
