Irene, you made some cogent points about buying books, either on e-bay type auction places, or on abebooks.I've a question from a different perspective; I am one of those who is going to have to sell most of my library as I'm moving across the country. I've been saving books for over 50 years, and have books of my mothers from the early 1900's as well as my grandmothers from the mid 19th century. My question is; where can I find helpful books on determining the condition of a book according to accepted dealer descriptions; and where can I find information on the value of a book. Most of my library of over 3000 volumes is Science Fiction and Mystery and antique children's books, with a smattering of other things. Is there a well known "blue book" type of thing like they have for the valuation of cars? I don't even know what to ask for in this department. Any help would be appreciated!
