I guess it's been a while since I started some discussion around here, so here's something.

Has anyone come across books by other authors which look and/or feel like an Andre Norton story? I mean, SWORD OF SHANARRA is by no means a book that "feels" like Tolkien wrote it, but most people see the obvious connections with THE LORD OF THE RINGS. And Dennis McKiernan's IRON TOWER TRILOGY and SILVER CALL DUOLOGY are (by his own admission) influenced by Tolkien.

So, what about Andre? Are there any knockoffs out there? I suppose for the space sagas criteria for determining influence would have to include merchant traders in a galaxy-wide civilization with multi-racial species that are aware of a past civilization (the Forerunners in Andre's world), and obviously the Witch World books have gates and a mixture of science and magic, with almost godlike Adepts and lesser magic users.

Galaxy-spanning civilizations are a fairly common theme in SF, I realize. :)

Still, I wonder if someone hasn't emulated Andre somewhere? I know I've not even come close to reading everything out there these days.
