: >(so Far) a very Fine 1st edition Hardcover of Opal-Eyed Fan(fine wrapper) for $15,a fine Hardcover White Jade Fox ( in a fair condition wrapper) for $0.50

: Here's a lesson on what to call stuff. If we all call them the same things, then we will all know what we are holding, and buying.

: The piece of paper that wraps around a Hard cover book is the DUST JACKET.
: The piece of paper that covers a paper back is it's WRAPPER.

: This is important to know if you see someone offering
: Wrapper for MIRROR OF DESTINY, by Andre Norton
: Wrapper for paper edition POWER LINES, Del Rey
: Wrapper for paper edition TIGER BURNING BRIGHT, AvoNova
: Wrapper for QUAG KEEP and Wrapper for GARAN THE ETERNAL

: or
: if you see the notation:ELVENBLOOD: pre Publication in printed wraps.

: This is especially important for those few books that have dust jackets out of special material. In general, there are no Andre Norton books that were covered in glassine (heck, I cannot check the spelling), which looks a lot like waxed paper. There is at least one Norton book covered in a dust jacket that is "Wood Veneer from Japan"

: PS: Great find on that MAID-AT-ARMS!

Irene, Thanks for the lesson I had been getting awfully Confused. I am new to the world of Collectors and am not used to the Lingo. Of Course "Fox" and "Fan" had Jackets. That is What I meant. For "Maid-At-Arms", I had to go down into a very musty dingy poorly-lit cellar in a bookstore in St Louis and dig through a couple of boxes until I found it. What helped was that I had seen it before at Norton's house and knew what it looked like. Also, it was in with about a hundred other books with the same cover format (from the same "Coventry Romance" imprint). As soon as I got into this box, my hopes soared and I persevered until I found it. Paul.
