: : So far the closest thing in the book (first few chapters) to a "G.I." is a "Seabee", and my mind considers them to be like today's Navy "Seals". So, unless the marines or army land in later chapters, the only military are Navy.: You need to be "real" careful here Irene.... Seals and SeaBees are very different. Seabees are combat engineers and construction crews, which is why AN chose them to be building a secret base on a remote island. I believe their motto goes something like this, "..the improbable we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer. : Seals have flippers and smell like fish....even in uniform : and of course the Russian navy is going to show up soon... Additionally, the term G.I., (G.I. means Government Issue and is slowly leaving the American lexicon) actually referred to all of the military regardless of service. Matt
