: In one book (too far away to go look), a ship from our world passes into the Witch World--that was clearly by Norton, and had a lot of good things in it. But I don't believe Norton wrote much of THE WARDING OF WITCH WORLD, even though hers is the only name on it...what a terrible disappointment. Still, I'd like to see the other books in that trilogy in hardcover, just to complete my collection.

Actually Andre Norton wrote all of THE WARDING

I'm afraid that the Witch World isn't a trilogy - but has more than 9 books in the main 2 series. These books have mostly already been re-printed in hard cover (Gregg Press in 1977) and though they may get re-printed as a collection, I doubt that what Jack is negotiating for is in hard cover. You might be best getting the two Science Fiction Book Club collections, which are still in print and were advertised in my latest flyer (they are also on-line, but I don't have the link here). The SFBC editions cover the 6 core books for the WW.

Though I don't dispute your right to not like a book, it might be time for both of us to re-read it. I don't remember "a ship from our world" in this one, though the original Sulkar people were discribed as having arrived in a ship from another world.

I do have an explanation for how the book 'is'. Andre Norton was combining all of the Witch World stories and tying up as many loose ends as she could. Juanita Coulson did a WW time line with character thumbnail sketches - 500 pages long. Andre Norton combined the life lines of hundreds of characters, many of these characters developed by other people.

Also if you hadn't alread read the 17 Books and collections written by Andre Norton and the 12 co-authored novels and anthologies, you might have been missing much of the back story necessary to read WARDING.
