: I'm reading "Tales of the Witch World" and quite liked Mercedes Lackey's story "Were-Hunter". I've never read any other of her work, and find that she's written a good deal. Anyone have any recomendations on where to start? Or whether this story is typical of her writing?Hi! Mercedes [aka "Misty] Lackey has more series than some authors have books. Her best is very good indeed; even her worst is readable and well-plotted. I'd recommend you start with _Arrows of the Queen_, the first of the Arrows trilogy. It was the first Valdemar book she wrote and provides an excellent introduction to the setting, characters, key motifs, etc. If you like that one, read the other two [_Arrow's Flight_, _Arrow's Fall_]. After that, you can move around freely on the timeline in the front of more recent hardcover books, although I do recommend finishing one trilogy at a time. The Tarma and Kethry stories [books with *Oath*] in the title are also excellent, but those novels were done from short stories, so finding the stories in their actual chronological order takes a bit of tracking down. If you need to know, just ask, and this board will provide. I hope this helps. Jerrie P. S. She also has a couple of short story collections out, one called _Were-Hunter_, the other called _Fiddler Faire_, which might be good places for you to start as well.
