: I just acquired a copy of Lord of Thunder that's a bit odd.:::::::: : Has anyone ever seen this before? Do folks care about this sort of thing? Not too sure what to do with this. It will be a handsome enough piece on my shelf. But can I really view myself as now owning a hardcover of Lord of Thunder (grin)? Well I certainly think that the copy is 'cool'. But then, I'm an odd type of collector. What probably happened is that sets of signatures were bound into the wrong cover. I have found this when buying a new book, that I then returned because of the misbound signatures (groups of pages). Sometimes a book was purposely bound with signatures to make the same thickness of a book - then getting the dust jacket. This was sometimes done to measure & plan the dust jacket, and sometimes done as a dummy to "sell" the book: A salesman's demo. However, these were never intended to be sold, and certainly not to a library. Perhaps this was the second copy that the library bought (check the pocket for V.2 or something like that)? No librarian probably ever read the book. If nothing else, you have a curiosity and a few of us "odd" collectors would love to have the copy in our collections.
