: I just acquired a copy of Lord of Thunder that's a bit odd.: It's a discard from the NYC public library system -- edge-stamps, a pocket on ffep, and (sigh) glued dj flaps. Otherwise pretty fine, with scarely a hint of shelfware, no stamps or other marks aside from the edge-stamping, and an unclipped and unstickered dj. : It's literally an uncirculated copy. And I think I see why... : From the half-title page through p.32, it's an entirely different book. North to Freedom by Anne Holm, translated from the Danish by L.W. Kingsland; c.1963, 1965, B.11.65 on the copyright page. : On p.33, it picks up in the middle of chapter three of LoT with: '"I don't know." "The Zamle clan were in the First Finger [...]".' And seems to run normally from there on out. : Has anyone ever seen this before? Do folks care about this sort of thing? Not too sure what to do with this. It will be a handsome enough piece on my shelf. But can I really view myself as now owning a hardcover of Lord of Thunder (grin)? I haven't seen this in hardcover before, Tom, but I do own a paperback copy of Alice Hoffman's PRACTICAL MAGIC in which the first 55 pages are some murder mystery by someone else. I keep it for the oddity factor. I too(like Irene and Joe) would love this LORD OF THUNDER mixup. Congratulations on the lucky find. Later--Paul
