i may have to gloat over my two most recent acquisitions. Well, i like to tell stories so here is mine: I was actually on a fluke going to illustrate a point to my partner. If you go to ABE and just type in Andre Norton you get about 6500 entries, then if you narrow it down to hardbacks, you get about 1800. I wanted to illustrate to him how many folks were fiddling around selling two and three dollar paperbacks. Our time/motion studies have suggested to us that if a book is not worth $15.00 minimum and there are more than a few available it is not cost effective for us to bother. So anyway, i type in Andre Norton and see about 10155 listings. Our ABE page defaults to the newest additions first and there at item number 1. Oh my Gosh! A first edition of At Swords Point in a very good jacket for only $15.00 I hit the seller to seller button and hoped. Called them but they had just closed for Friday and would not reopen till Monday. Anyway i was excitED!! The book arrived, as described and i replaced my fine/fine signed later printing with the first. Then i scroll down the page to item #6. OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH MY GOSSSSSH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joe Goldin has already figured this out but i'm thinking Good Grief there are serious collectors who have probably been looking for Island of the Lost for twenty years. Here is a copy for about 6 bucks. No jacket but who's gonna quibble over that. I'm still waiting for that little gem to show up. well that's my story, we welcome yours!
