: I love this game. Although I had a brief fling with HPL's work when I was around 10, it wasn't until 1988 that I came across the COC game and became immersed in all things Lovecraftian. I prefer the classic '20's gaming. My own ineptness with timelines led to some humorous situations where "The Great War" was mistakenly called WWI by some of the citizens - so instead of making the correction, I altered the story to involve time-travelling cultists. Neat. A good one:) A couple of years ago I played CoC at a convention in Sweden, and the Keeper did the same mistake. One NPC talked about "... world war 2" and not "The Great War". That was kind of funny. We´ve played a lot of '90's adventures, because I feel the key to success in CoC is to create the right "mood" and I have felt I have had too little knowledge in the 20's way of life. The small, ordinary and daily things that makes the contrast between normal life and the Mythos horrifying. I you can't paint a convincing picture of the 20's it's very hard to achieve that little extra which makes the players talk about the event or adventure for years to come as THE experience. Now I have read a lot about the 20's and looked at a bunch of movies and tv-series so feel quite confident about "The Roaring Twenties". I've found a very good link to site about this. Look below. : Those who live by the tentacle, end up in soft walled rooms with pretty pills to choose from. LOL. But it's that which makes COC THE game! Regards Mjolnir
