: : : Anyone wanna discuss these? Who was the biggest, baddest monsters?

: : : Morgoth
: : : Sauron
: : : Balrogs
: : : Dragons
: : : the Watcher at Moria
: : : them flying things the Nazgul rode
: : : trolls
: : : giants
: : : orcs
: : : hobbits

: Morgoth, then Sauron, then the Dragons, then the Balrogs, then the Nazgul. I wouldn't consider the others to be very nasty.

: Part of what made the really bad guys bad (IMO) was the fact they instilled fear in those who beheld them.
Were Morgoth and Sauron really monsters? should they not be considered deities- and if, well so should Balrogs, but Balrogs were what one can conceivably consider a race as their number given varies between 7 and what?? several thousands?? Thus they are the worst, furthermore Legolas names them "the greatest bane of elves save the one in the dark tower itself".
