Excellent point on Faramir. That was truly a test of judgement, wisdom, and faith.

When doing my list initially, I totally missed the magnitude of Bilbo giving up the ring. The scene was almost comical, but that clearly ranked up there. Reinforcing it was Bilbo (and Frodo's) reaction at Rivendell when he asked for a "peek" at it.

Another great moment, or sequence of moments, throughout the trilogy, although it wasn't a single act of heroism, was Gimli and Legolas' competition.
