First of all, did he really look like a rabbit. Tolkien said he had feet that resembled those of a rabbit, long ears, and was the size of a very large dog. Just wondering.

Second of all, were Psamathos and for that matter Artaxerxes and the Man-in-the-Moon Maia. I know this may seem like over analyzation, a thing I disapprove of (I know Tolkien disliked it to). The reason I pose this question is because I feel it shows that Tolkien saw the Maia and the Valar keeping their ties to Arda. Remember it is possible because sea Rover and Roverandom both get in site of Valinor and even see the green hill of Tuna.
