I'm a little late in catching back up to the board. I was gone over the holiday weekend and was too busy all week to do more than check my e-mail. However, I've now caught up to all the responses to my original question, and there's one thing I'd like to say: THANKS!I appreciate all those who took the time to try to help resolve what seems to be a truly thorny question. Even more, I appreciate the friendly spirit in which the debate was conducted. I've recently moved to a very small town, where few people are interested in sci-fi and fantasy at all, and it's refreshing to come to this board and read intelligent comments on the works of one of my favorite authors. Oh, and Gandalf --- you've inspired me to make the drive to get my own copy of "The Silmarillion". Thanks for your insights! --- Luned
