: There's a show on MTV called "Celebrity Deathmatch" where celebrities are pitted against each other in a fight to the death (not actually, they're clay figurines.) Recent match-ups include Arnold Schwarzenegger versus Sylvester Stallone. What are your dream match-ups? I would like to see the chief of the Nazgul versus Gothmog the Balrog myself. I'd enjoy watching Theoden and Denethor slug it out, too.

Wuhoooo (he shouted in a Homer-esk manner)!

I luv this sort of thing!

Now, I'm a Tolk freek primarily, but taking a REAL close second place is my role-playing side, of which the vast majority is done within Middle-Earth (MERP, Rolemaster, C&S, etc) so I'm afraid I will make no apology about the vast amount of stuff ICE have produced, colouring (slightly) the way I would see things panning out, if it came to a sluggin match between certain key figures in the history of M-E.

So how about this!

The forces of darkness, coached by the ever evil Morgoth and his playful arachnid sidekick Ungoliant, choose the ten most evil, smelly and down right rude dudes for the conflict of the Age. While the ever fluffy and good of heart Manwe, coached with dreadful eagerness by Tulkas Astaldo, chooses ten figures of light to face the greatest onslaught of all time!

[No whimps who stayed over in the Undying Lands need apply, they wouldn't after all, since they didn't in the real story anyhow!]

Lining up in the very dark corner is (in no particular order of hardness):

1. Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs
2. The Lord of the Nazgul
3. Shelob
4. Gothmog, Lt of Minas Morgul
5. The Mouth of Sauron
6. Khamul the Easterling (2nd Nazgul)
7. Sauron
8. Ancalagon the Black
9. Glaurung, Father of Dragons
10. Smaug the Golden

An din the white corner (again in no particular order of hardness):

1. Feanor, the Spirit of Fire
2. Fingolfin the Valiant
3. Hurin the Steadfast
4. Turin Turambar
5. Earendil Half-elven
6. Fingon the Fair
7. Durin the Deathless
8. Beorn the skinchanger
9. Finrod Felagund
10. Beren One-hand

The stage is set. Evil Contestants READY. Good Contestants READY!

Choose your opponants and kick some arse!

So then ladies and gentlemen - who's gonna win?
