: What the heck was Elrond's problem? For being such a wise and powerful Elven prince he sure seemed to shallow and petty? I understand he had suffered a great many tradgedies, but get real! If you live 5,000 years I would expect a few tradgedies to happen! Why was he so reluctant to aid the heirs of his brother? I would expect him to be leading the assault. He is described as wise and heroic, but I just do not see it that way? I'm not really sure what you would want him to do. "The might of Elrond is in wisdom not weapons." He was really in no position to do more than what he did. The days were long past when he could march out with a host of Elves and challenge the armed might of the Dark Lord, which he had done in the past. As for aiding the Dunedain, he was the only person who ever helped the heirs of Isildur. He harboured them in his house, and he raised Aragorn as a son. What more do you want?
