Although I do not think it has to be a specifically an all British cast I think we should look at the BBC adaptation(I am sure we have all listened to this hundreds of times). Next time you listen to it try to picture an American or any other accent playing some of the parts. It would just not work.

: Point taken -- I'm afraid I took your comments rather personally! :-) However, I still have to say that the idea of LotR in American accents doesn't really bother me, at least not in the abstract. I can't think of any American *celebrities* offhand that I'd cast in the film, but that doesn't mean I'm opposed to it in general...I must say, though, that part of this comes from my being an aspiring actor myself! :-) Anyway, I respectfully disagree regarding all-British casting.
