I've posted a response to your respetive challenges on the talkback forum under the PJ 20 questions bit. BTW thanks for keeping it civil. If you're going to respond on this board then at least drop me a note on the AICN forum.

RSS: I've been perusing your comments here, and I don't think you have anything to worry about. The dialogue, for instance. There are times when Tolkien's voice is distinctive, (ie, most of the time) and times when it's less so, and more clearly resembles the way people talked in England at the time Tolkien wrote the books. I think that's what PJ meant--that Aragorn, Boromir, Elrond, Galadriel et. al. will keep the Tolkienian voice, but that the Hobbits and, in some parts, Gandalf, will have less formal dialogue, just like in the book. I'm sure there's not gonna be any street slang, as PJ makes clear.

Also--why is everyone assuming that Tom Bombadil is gonna be cut? PJ said he'd have to trim some parts, but I think he was referring to the pages and pages Tolkien spent describing Frodo's weakening and the running from the Black Riders. That kind of thing could be established in a few quick shots in the movie. It seems to me that if they arrive in Rivendell at the end of book 1, then that should be about halfway thorugh the movie, maybe a little less. Surely they should have time for Tom in the first hour. I don't know why everyone assumes that 6 hours isn't enough for the whole book--they'll have to make some cuts, true, but I bet you'll be surprised at how much of the book they'll be able to fit into the time allotted.
