If you are going to do it, you have got to do it properly. Bombadil and the Barrow Wights and Gildor and Arwen are as important to the overall feeling of the book as any other part. We love the books so much because of the attention to detail, the noble and dramatic licence given in the wording and dialogue. And as for trying to depict Sauron in Humanoid form. No No and thrice No. Leave him to your imagination and only give hints as to his terror and power. This shouldn't be to much of a problem. I am not as hopeful for this film as a lot of you guys. It sounds like it could be cut to crap.
