: Hey everybody. Up until now I've been posting my comments about Jackson's attempt to film The Lord of the Rings at aint-it-cool-news, but since a few of my most articulate respondants seem to be frequenting this forum, I'll join in.

: I'm the one who originally complained about Jackson's use of the plural "dwarfs" instead of "dwarves." My opinion was apparently controversial; I wasn't expecting so much flame. Understandably, a lot of people thought I was nit-picking. Nevertheless, an encouraging number of readers supported my contention that slip-ups like this are not trivial when you're talking about adapting Tolkien.

I fully agree. I was, as you'll recall :-), one of the people who took issue with your original complaint, although very mildly so. My impression was that Peter was in a hurry; there were numerous typos, and it's an easy one to make, especially if Jackson has not read or forgotten Tolkien's lengthy Letter on the subject. He clearly had a good familiarity with Tolkien and an understanding of what was important, so I let it pass. I'll be more disappointed if it happens in the final product. But I doubt that will happen if Peter's really been reading the AICN boards. :-)
