: I am 20 years old (21 in a month). I first read LoTR in 5th grade when I received it as a gift from my older brother. The first time through took me quite a while. I've read them three times now and plan another time through shortly. However, college makes that kind of difficult.
: I just found the White Council a few days ago and wasn't sure in how much depth comments should be. My thoughts are mostly on the writing/story itself, and not the in-depth details of Middle Earth. Same goes for me! I've noticed, though, that a lot of the discussion I've found online focuses on the former more than the latter. (No offense to anyone, though -- the exquisite detail of Middle-earth *is* fascinating!) I can sympathize with not having time to read because of college! I first read LotR last fall, and I reached "Return of the King" in December -- just in time for finals! It's pretty bad being torn away from your reading because of exams!
