: : I only got a few replies to my posting concerning Thū, Fankil, : : Gond and Naikefairė awhile back. Either you did not have much : : to add or Michael cleared out before I got here to read it. : : Now, I will try again; is Sauron Thū, or is he Fankil, or both, : : or neither?: Sorry. I had meant to respond to this two days ago, but I've been very busy this weekend. : Sauron is Thu, or a character close enough to Thu to be considered the same (as Melkor is to Melko). : I believe Fankil is a separate entity. : : What are Gond? the missing link between Orks and Eldar, if so : : how do they look? : I'm not familiar with this term. In what book(s) did you find it? : There is an entry for "Gongs" in the index of THE BOOK OF LOST TALES, PART TWO. Christopher Tolkien says they are "obscurely related to Orcs". That means they are not Orcs. : : What are Naikefairė? are they the same as Gond, seduced lesser : : Maias or something else? I know only that they were created to : : walk among Edain and Eldar and spread dissent. : I don't know this term either. >> Sorry my spelling (or possibly memory mistake)- they are Gong. The Naikefairė are Kaukareldar, but I do seem to remember that term being used as well.
