Anguriel was stolen from Eol by Maeglin, his son, when both Maeglin and his mother Adrehel (I believe, well whoever, it was Turgon's sister anyhow) left Eol to return (for Adrehel) to Gondolin. Eol followed, tried to kill Maeglin, Adrehel died instead and Turgon had Eol thrown of a very high cliff (or something).Can't remember the specifics, but that is in general what happened, I believe. Maeglin must have kept the sword Anguriel until he himself was killed during the overthrow of Gondolin. Possibly Anguriel was then taken as a trophey back to Angband? Who knows!
