Gandalf is simply... well, Gandalf seems less of a 'wizard'. A line in RotK says that Denethor looked more like a wizard than did Gandalf, and I feel that Saruman does even more so than Denethor. And of course Saruman is dark and suspicious: quite a role model by my tastes. Akhronath
