I don't believe that you can say anyone is more of a hero than any of the others. What of Aragorn, he would have (as he said) followed Frodo to the end (given half a chance), risking death and the loss of not only the Kingship of Gondor and Arnor, but also seperation from Arwen, who he loved to distraction. They were ALL willing, regardless of their motives or methods, to challenge the might of Mordor, to walk the sands of Gorgoroth and make sure the Ring to Mount Doom to see it destroyed. Boromir definately had the courage, if not the will, (you don't attack an orc band on your own for the sake of a couple of Hobbits, whose worth on the journey - so far - was less than apparent, unless you've got courage coming out of your.... Legolas had the courage, Gimli had the courage, the Hobbits had the courage - EVERYONE in the company had the courage to walk up to Sauron's back door. So who the hell is more heroic? No one! They all pretty much rate up there with each other. : Only Gollum in all Middle-Earth was truly capable of finishing the Quest. GOLLUM! Only in that he 'fell' in to the Cracks of Doom. If he hadn't already been tottering on the edge, he would have run off and kept the ring for himself!
