I think some people are missing some things in the post below. True, Sauron was stronger than other Maiar (save possibly Eonwë), but five Maiar should have been able to take him down. The reason they couldn't was because the Istari were in mortal bodies, able to be killed. They were also under specific orders from the Valar, NOT TO TAKE SAURON OUT BY FORCE. Which brings up a good question. What were they doing taking out Sauron in Dol Guldur? I the only answer I can think of is that they didn't know it was him.Jon
