How he was related to King Thingol (if indeed he was) is not stated. See the section "The Sindarin Princes of the Silvan Elves" (UT, p. 257). : In my own imagintaion (and this is just me) Thranduil is a son of Mablung of Doriath. I may just be making this up, but I seem to recall reading somwhere that Tharanduil was a decendant of Denethor and thus Lenwe. I can't remember where I read it though. Turgon
