: The Dragon Helm of Dor Lomin has puzzled me. Why make a piece of armour in the shape of one of your greatest enemies? It's as if the Gondorians had produced a black helmet with a single flame-girt eye.Somewhere in the Silmarillion, it states that the helm was made after Glaurung came into existance and that it was made in spite of him, Glaurung even mentions this to Turin. I can't find my copy of the Silmarillion but I'm sure if you look up Turin it will be there.
