: : In the Took family-tree (Appendix C, LotR)there is an entry

: Welcome aboard. :)

: Tolkien did not put Long Cleeve on any maps of which I'm aware. Karen Fonstad and Robert Foster speculate that it's in the Northfarthing (probably since the North-Tooks descended from Bandobras "Bullroarer" Took lived in Long Cleeve). Fonstad placed Long Cleeve in in the North Moors, at a position southwest of Greenfields, in her Atlas. I don't know why she chose that location.

: MERP may also have Long Cleve on some of their maps, but I don't have the Shire module or anything else that would show where they placed it.

I will add my welcome to that of Michael.
Further, I am somewthing of an expert on MERP as I have everything they published between 1985 and 1995 when their standards deterioated horribly (actually this was only the sorry low point in a long slide down the hill), you can still be fortunate and find some foreign contractors doing a good job on a module, but they are contaminated by the "artwork" done by ICE. Anyway; I am not aware of any place called Long Cleeve on any of their maps, but I do not own "The Shire".
And as for Karen Fonstad, who ever knows why she did anything, not to degrade her- well actually somewhat- but I do not evaluate her work on Middle-earth to be worth equally much on all accounts, it is at least evident that she knows nothing of war.
