The tale is a British tale, but Middle-Earth is so much larger than Britain. To a Hobbit, I'd imagine a Easterling or a Gondorian would sound quite strange even when speaking the Common Speech. And there must be a difference between how Dale-men and Rohirrim sound speaking Westron. To have all of the different peoples of Middle Earth speak in various British accents might work fine, but it could also make the differences less obvious to non-British viewers. Instead, I think that a variety of accents (British, American, German, whatever), each aligned with a broad or specific location in Middle Earth, would be more appropriate. Ron Kittle
