Well, I don't have a contract yet, but a small press publisher has expressed sincere interest in the project. Depending on how his projected costs go, my agent says I may have a contract within a week or two. I hope I didn't just jinx the deal. :)I'm looking for a cartographer right now. I'm awaiting samples for two to arrive by snail mail, but if anyone knows of a Tolkien-knowledgeable cartographer who doesn't charge an arm and a leg, please email me with contact info and some background and I'll be glad to add them to my list of prospects. Assuming this all goes through as quickly as possible (and I guess I should expect delays in the process), then the book will be published in hardback next year. If the deal falls through, then I guess we'll just go back to shopping it around.
