I understand the purpose as to the First Age (I forgot to list
Earendil's coming to Aman and the pardoning of the Noldor).
I was more accurately looking for an ultimate purpose, if such a
thing exists, perhaps in the Third Age...or if there was any such
purpose alluded to in the future of Middle Earth (the Last
Battle?).
I'm sure I do need to reread the Silmarillion, but perhaps even
then, it would help to have an alternate perspective.
