I have no real reason at all except for a sneaking belief (not back up by much evidence at all, at least none that I can think of right now) that each time a blade is reforged it gains something more. I certainly believe this was the case with regard to Gurthang. As for Merry's blade, then yes, it should be there. Right below Narsil I would say. Cheers
